The 3rd Session of Dubai Smart Cities Forum, is titled ‘The Internet of Everything (IoE)’. Cisco defines IoE as the networked connection of people, processes, data and things, and this revolution of all things connected will transform cities and industries globally. The outcomes of this transformation will enable individuals, businesses, and governments to do things they couldn’t before, or to do things better, faster, and more safely.

An economic analysis of Dubai has found that AED 4.3b is at stake for the public sector of Dubai. This value is based on IoE’s ability to help public‐sector organizations manage assets, optimize performance, and create new business models. The following use cases show the greatest scope for improvement by IoE advances in Dubai:

- Mobile Collaboration
- Public Transport
- Smart Transmission Grid
- BYOD
- Smart Buildings

To maximize value creation, Dubai should approach use cases cohesively rather than individually to enable IoE services at marginal costs. Moreover, it is important to identify an owner of each initiative and mandate cross‐agency coordination to synergize capabilities to effectively deliver initiatives, and create an implementation roadmap that appreciates the dependencies between use cases to create seamless experiences for the end-user.
