The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is taking strides to deliver interactive and tailored solutions for patients with an array of advanced technology platforms. A number of healthcare applications and smart services have been implemented in recent years including robotics, telemedicine, Smart Health Information Systems and smart phone-based apps.

DHA’s committed efforts support the vision of Dubai Health Agenda 2021 with aims to enable patients to proactively manage their own well-being through meaningful digital interactions with health-care providers.

DHA services range from record management and access to providing personalized medical advice and prescriptions. Perhaps the most well-known of DHA’s smart health solutions is Salama, an innovative initiative drawing on the Internet of Things and Big Data to transform doctor and patient experiences, and ultimately benefit patient’s health through pro-active care for sustained well-being.

Salama is a unified Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and medical records database for patients and doctors. The program rolls out in three phases: the first phase launched in April 2017 and the second phase will be introduced next month.

Within two years, authorities say, the Salama program will enable every resident of the UAE will have one integrated medical record. Private and secure patient data will be accessible via a portal and will be available to all DHA facilities. Centralised patient data means first responders have instant access to essential medical information, such as allergies to certain medicines, that would otherwise take valuable time to transfer. Healthy patients benefit too: integrated medical records mean you can easily transfer between clinics or doctors without the hassle of re-sharing your historical health data.

“DHA is striving to make the population of Dubai healthier and happier by providing world-class healthcare services fostering creativity and innovation in alignment with UAE vision and Dubai plan 2021”, said His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami Chairman of the board of the DHA.

Dubai Health Authority’s ongoing efforts are aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has said "the expectations of UAE Nationals and residents about Dubai’s health sector are higher than any other nation.”

Customer expectations clearly continue to grow, and advances in smart technologies for health and well-being championed by DHA will certainly cater to the needs and demands of Dubai’s growing and active population.
