Have you ever had to handle the stresses of moving in to a new residence in Dubai? The procedure can turn into a long quest for information with the real estate company, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and other entities. Stress no more, Dubai Land Department (DLD) now allows Dubai residents to digitally register their Ejari tenancy contracts to complete transactions with several government entities all in one go, instead of of visiting several locations to submit hard copies of documents.

DLD’s Ejari smart app has been linked with nine other government entities in order to integrate services that require a registered Ejari contract. From DEWA services to residency visa renewal as well as other government transactions, Ejari’s smart app now saves us time and allows for a eco-friendlier process.

Hamdan Hamad Al Madhani, Director of Rental Relationship Regulation Department at DLD, stressed on DLD’s response to the cumbersome chunk of time residents have had to allocate to procedures with government entities, “as a result of the enhanced cooperation between government entities, we are now working with a number of entities, including DEWA…as customer will no longer need to review and submit documents multiple times. This is part of a wider integration of government services that aim to save customers both time and effort.”

DLD has established partnerships with Department of Economic Development, Dubai Ports, Dubai Customers, Dubai Free Zone Corporation, Dubai Culture, Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Roads and Transport Authority, to name a few. Additionally, DLD partnered with real estate companies, property leasing and management systems including Nakheel, Emaar, Dubai Investments Park, as well as others.

Customers can now renew commercial licenses and complete new licensing requirements via smart apps as long if they have Ejari registered lease. The Ejari app facilitates the process for registering leases and gives the authority to register leases at any place and time.

The smart app is being developed in phases to transfer services to smart formats. Stay tuned for the next announcement DLD will be making once technical requirements including legal notices, filing, financial follow-up, collection, among others.
