In line with the Smart Dubai vision, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) developed a comprehensive Smart Grid strategy with the aim to connect renewable energy sources and promote environmental initiatives.

The Smart Grid consists of a series of fully integrated programs and initiatives designed to ensure seamlessly accessible and nonstop connected services that meet daily living requirements. For example, the Smart Meter provides automatic and detailed readings of individual consumption enabling end users to better understand and manage their personal DEWA bills. 200,000 such Smart Meters will be installed and become fully operational by January 2016.

DubaiNow was designed with active customer engagement through Smart Dubai Strategic Partner Dubai Smart Government (DSG). Through DSG’s Customer Experience Lab the unified user experience was created, and now seamlessly combines access to 22 government entity services under one app.

DubaiNow is interactive and can be customized through a smart dashboard to have most used services in one place. By installing and programming the customized dashboard, the application is able to track transactions and provide timely reminders and notifications, among other useful settings

“The launch of this unified hub comes as part of our efforts to implement the initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to shift to smart government and ensure that Dubai becomes the smartest city in the world. It is also based on the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council; to provide a single interface and a single sign on for more comfort and convenience to customers,” said H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General.
