DSCE: Dubai Energy Model in Energy Mix

In 2011, the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) published the ‘Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030’. The plan is to diversify energy sources so that renewable sources of energy provide 1% of Dubai’s total energy output by 2020. By 2030, this will increase to 5%, with 12% coming from nuclear energy, 12% from clean coal and the remaining percentage from gas. By 2050, Dubai will have 75% Clean Energy for power generation, reducing down carbon emissions significantly.

Moreover, the plan is to cut down utility demand by 30%, by making water, electricity and fuel usage more efficient.

The diversified energy sources will be a boon for energy security and sustainability for UAE.
