DED Opens 24hr Registration & Licensing Centre

The Department of Economic Development (DED) is set to launch a new “Smart Hall” business center, providing round-the-clock access to license and registration services for business owners and investors in a smart, sustainable and customer-friendly experience.

The Smart Hall will provide license owners and investors non-stop access to DED’s business registration and licensing services through automated, self-service kiosks.

Interactive smart kiosks will guide customers through the transaction process, ensuring customers are not only able to conduct services at their convenience – but also making the service experience easier and more successful. For those who require additional assistance, a voice call facility from remote experts will also be available.

The Smart Hall aims to be fully paperless, with kiosks facilitating both online and offline services. The Smart Hall will facilitate ease of doing business for business owners, investors and entrepreneurs, contributing Smart Dubai’s goal to transform Dubai into a global leader for a Smart Economy.

Announcing the initiative, His Excellency, Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED, said, "Dubai's leadership as a business destination rests largely on its competitiveness and ease of doing business. As it evolves into a Smart City, Dubai will also enhance its comparative advantages as a business and investment hub. The Department of Economic Development is determined to be in the forefront of Dubai's transition into an exemplary and innovative smart government.”

The initiative will be the first in the region to provide continuous online and office business services and is founded in international best practices for customer experience.

"We studied best practices in customer services and took the private sector into confidence to see their requirements and preferences in completing registration and licensing transactions. The technology partner was also selected on their demonstrated capabilities and expertise in the project," Abdullah Hassan, Executive Director of the Shared Services sector in the DED, said.

The 9,000 square foot Smart Hall facility is set to launch in May 2016 and will open on the ground floor of the DED business hub in the Business Village.
