Representatives from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently visited both Malaysia and Singapore in hopes to form a closer bond with the two countries leading companies in energy, water and environment. The delegation sent by DEWA included Saeed Bel Jafla, Senior Manager of Government Relations and Abdul Syed Abdul Hameed, Senior Manager of Contracts.
The visit to the Malaysian and Singaporean companies supported DEWA’s venture in advocating for the 18th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2016) as well as promotion for the first Dubai Solar Show 2016, which was formed under the direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in partnership with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of DEWA.
“We have noticed wide recognition and appreciation from the Malaysian and Singaporean companies to the efforts of DEWA and Dubai in its green economy drive and journey towards diversifying its energy sources as part of Dubai Plan 2021 and Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and President and Founder of WETEX.
“We look at becoming a global role model in supporting the economic growth in Dubai and ensuring energy supply and efficiency of its use to realise our goals in environment and sustainability and transform the Emirate into a global hub for clean energy and green economy. This requires immense cooperation from competent energy sectors across the world,” Al Tayer added.
Following the visit, representatives from DEWA were left feeling confident after receiving positive feedback and interest in participation at the exhibition from both the Malaysian and Singaporean energy, water, environment, and solar energy companies.
DEWA’s global venture helps to connect Dubai to other major cities around the world. Associations like these aid in Smart Dubai’s ongoing efforts to form international partnerships to promote and share stories of smart city development. Continuation of creating a global network will help to further establish Dubai as an international benchmark for the smart city movement.
This year’s WETEX will take place at the Dubai Exhibition and Convention Centre from 4-6 of October. The exhibition is projected to showcase a wide range of international, regional, and local companies, all who are interested in launching their innovations and projects of an ideal globally recognized platform.
